The magic of Magnesium - why you should be taking it every day.


Anyone who talks to me will at some point have me ask them if they take Magnesium. I don't ask this because I sell it and am trying to make a buck, I'm asking because 9 times out of 10 they aren't and introducing this mineral as a supplement in my daily life was a game changer! I started taking Magnesium 12 years ago while researching overcoming Migraines which I was suffering from terribly at the time. I mean I would be in hospital every month having several attacks every week. I don't like taking tablets for things and am always looking for the natural cure and Magnesium as I discovered was one of mother natures ingredients I really needed in my life!

My researching made me think maybe I was deficient so off I went to the doctors and hello yes I was. Scroll forward to today and I take Magnesium Glycinate everyday. I am not deficient (just got retested 4 months ago), I am very healthy and only have 1 episode a month which I can usually stop. Overall my lifestyle has been dramatically improved.

The scary fact is that the CSIRO conducted a study of Australians in 2014 and found 50% of males and 40% of females daily intake of Magnesium was below the recommended daily intake.

Without magnesium we could not produce energy, our muscles would be in a permanent state of contraction, and we could not adjust the levels of cholesterol produced and released into the blood stream.

Magnesium ions regulate over 300 biochemical reactions in the body through their role as enzyme co-factors. They also play a vital role in the reactions that generate and use ATP, the fundamental unit of energy within the body’s cell.

We consume it through our food as it cannot be manufactured by the body. So if your diet is more processed and less fresh then the likelihood that you are Magnesium deficient is very high and even with eating fresh fruit and vegetables we find most of our produce grown in magnesium deficient soil so we still don't get enough even when we are trying to be healthy.

COMMON SYMPTOMS OF MAGNESIUM DEFICIENCY ARE....

(n.b some people experience very strong symptoms, others may not notice at all but symptoms may include)

- Low energy, fatigue and lethargy - feeling sluggish lately? Magnesium helps support energy production to help you leave fatigue and lethargy behind.

- Terrible sleep patterns - waking in the night or struggling to get to sleep quickly. Magnesium deficiency is associated with heightened levels of stress and anxiety.

- Aches , Pains, Muscle cramps and spasms - All your muscles can be affected by Magnesium deficiency. If you experience any of these this could be a sign that you Magnesium is lacking.

-Muscle weakness - Not feeling as strong as you used to? Muscles not performing as well as they did? This can be a sign of Magnesium deficiency.

-Migraines - Where it all started for me!. If you are getting regular migraines or headaches it is a classic sign that you can be deficient if you are not taking a supplement for this.

-Cardiovascular and Nerve Function - If things are playing up in this area and you don't take Magnesium then this could be why.
